Overview
World Heroes 2 carries forward the 3-of-4 button layout and 8-way joystick controls from its 1992 predecessor while adding six new playable characters to bring the total to fourteen. It introduces projectile-reflecting and counter-grab mechanics that differentiate its combat from the first entry. Two modes, Normal Game and Death Match, offer distinct rule sets for single-player campaigns and local multiplayer matches.
02
Why it matters
It was the first game to display the ADK logo after the developer rebranded from Alpha Denshi. The title also helped establish Neo Geo as a serious fighting-game home system alongside Fatal Fury and other SNK titles.
03
The physical edition
A typical complete copy of the Neo Geo AES cartridge edition includes the original box, an instruction manual, and the game cartridge. Some Japanese editions also include a soft case and the manual in its original baggie, though exact contents vary by region and release batch.
04
Playing it today
The original Neo Geo AES hardware or a licensed MVS/AES compatible system is required to play the cartridge. Emulation is widely available, but physical cartridge play preserves the original 60 Hz presentation and input latency characteristics of the console.
