Overview

You pilot a ship through a long tunnel, firing lasers in four directions independently of the ship's movement. A constantly draining fuel gauge is replenished by destroying enemies, so shooting doubles as survival. The route passes through several zones with different enemies and tunnel shapes before a boss fight with moving force fields.

02

Why it matters

It is one of the earliest scrolling shooters and helped establish the four-directional shooting layout that later titles like Gradius would expand. The home port keeps the fuel system, multidirectional firing, and energy pods while adapting the controls for a standard joystick.

03

The physical edition

A complete copy typically pairs the cartridge with a box showing the tunnel artwork and a printed instruction booklet. Packaging can differ by region and press run, so check the box, label, and manual against what you expect before purchase.

04

Playing it today

It runs on a standard Atari 2600 system with the included or any compatible joystick, and the difficulty switches change how firing works. Emulation on modern hardware reproduces the cartridge with no additional setup beyond loading the ROM.
