01
Overview
The Orange Box bundles Half-Life 2, Half-Life 2: Episode One, Half-Life 2: Episode Two, Portal, and Team Fortress 2 on PlayStation 3. The package presents Valve's signature first-person design across narrative campaign levels, puzzle-based test chambers, and class-based multiplayer. The PS3 version was ported by EA UK and arrived in North America and Europe in December 2007, later than the October 2007 PC and Xbox 360 launches.
02
Why it matters
The collection preserved five landmark Valve titles in one physical package at a time when console bundles of this scale were uncommon. It remains a straightforward way to experience the full Half-Life 2 storyline alongside Portal's puzzle design on a single disc set.
03
The physical edition
A typical complete PS3 copy includes the outer case, an inner case, two Blu-ray discs, a printed manual, and a soundtrack CD featuring music from the Half-Life 2 episodes. Regional editions may differ in language support, additional inserts, and packaging details, so verify the specific edition before purchase.
04
Playing it today
The single-player Half-Life 2 chapters and Portal remain fully playable on PS3 with no online dependency. Team Fortress 2 multiplayer servers for the PS3 version went offline in 2023, leaving only the campaign and puzzle content accessible.
