01

Overview

SVC Chaos pairs fighters from The King of Fighters, Fatal Fury, and Samurai Shodown against characters from Street Fighter, Darkstalkers, and Mega Man Zero in traditional one-on-one battles. It uses a four-button Neo Geo control layout and adds guard canceling and power gauge mechanics without the team-battle structure of the earlier crossover. Each matchup includes pre-fight dialogue between the two fighters, a detail that became a series hallmark.

02

Why it matters

It is the second SNK-produced entry in the SNK vs. Capcom crossover line and the version released on SNK's own home hardware. Its character roster and matchup banter set the template for the later, more widely known Capcom vs. SNK titles.

03

The physical edition

A typical complete Neo Geo AES copy includes the game cartridge, retail box, and a printed instruction manual; some releases also include an inlay or outer sleeve. Contents vary by region and language, so check listings for the specific edition before buying.

04

Playing it today

The game runs on original Neo Geo AES hardware, or through emulators where legal, with a standard gamepad. It plays straightforwardly as a one-on-one fighter, though the four-button layout takes some adjustment if you are used to modern control schemes.
