01

Overview

Sharp Shot collects four short timed games in which players press the Intellivision controller's action button when a target enters range. The set includes Touchdown Passing, Space Gunner, Submarine, and Maze Shoot, each asking players to rack up points within a fixed window. Space Gunner and Maze Shoot support two simultaneous players, while the other two use alternating turns with separate score tallies.

02

Why it matters

The cartridge preserves an early example of single-button gameplay that first appeared in Mattel's TV POWWW interactive-television experiments. It also shows how a contract obligation to APh Technological Consulting could shape the Intellivision library.

03

The physical edition

A typical North American complete copy includes the Sharp Shot cartridge, a colorful box with a front label noting the game is for children over 4, and a paper instruction booklet. Other regional editions, reprint states, and packaging variants can differ, so the exact box, labels, and booklet should be checked before purchase.

04

Playing it today

On original hardware, Sharp Shot runs as a straightforward single-button game that can be tested quickly with one Intellivision controller. For two-player rounds, both players need compatible Intellivision controllers and access to Space Gunner or Maze Shoot.
