01

Overview

Players arrive in an unfamiliar village with no memory and use farming, fishing, and socializing to rebuild a life. The game adds cave exploration where captured monsters can become livestock or companions. Its blend of simulation routines and action-RPG-style encounters made it a notable branch of the Harvest Moon lineage.

02

Why it matters

The title is the first entry in the Rune Factory line and helped define the fantasy farming subgenre. It also showed how simulation games could incorporate persistent world-building and combat without abandoning their core daily routines.

03

The physical edition

A typical complete copy includes the game card, original plastic DS case, cover insert or sleeve, and instruction booklet. Contents and cover art vary by region and publisher, so each edition should be checked individually before purchase.

04

Playing it today

The card runs on original Nintendo DS and DS Lite hardware, as well as Nintendo 3DS family systems where DS compatibility is available. Online features are no longer practical, but local wireless play can still be used if multiple copies and compatible systems are available.
