01

Overview

Leon travels to a remote village where an infection has turned the population hostile, and the game follows his attempts to locate a missing diplomat. Its lock-on aiming and over-the-shoulder camera make encounters feel more direct than the series' earlier entries. A GameCube memory card holds saved progress throughout the campaign.

02

Why it matters

It marked a major shift in how survival horror presented action, moving away from fixed cameras toward a closer, more responsive third-person view. For GameCube players, it represented one of the platform's most widely played third-person action titles.

03

The physical edition

A typical complete copy includes the optical disc and the retail packaging. Region and language can vary by edition, so check the case and manual details before assuming every copy contains the same contents.

04

Playing it today

It runs on original GameCube hardware with a memory card inserted for saving. Modern console collections of Resident Evil include later remasters, so the GameCube version is best experienced on the original platform or compatible setup.
