Overview

Omega Race adapts Bally Midway's 1981 arcade cabinet for home use, asking the player to clear a bounded track of incoming droid ships. The ship rotates with one control, thrusts with another, and fires lasers while bouncing off arena walls that temporarily alter its trajectory. Enemy waves grow more aggressive, and droid-dropped mines can be shot down or must be evaded, making momentum control as important as aiming.

02

Why it matters

The ColecoVision version is one of only two titles on the system with native support for the Roller Controller trackball. Its arcade lineage connects a vector cabinet to the early console library and gives collectors a concrete example of how 1980s home ports translated spinner-and-button controls.

03

The physical edition

A typical complete North American copy includes the cartridge, a paper manual, and the outer box. Regional and later printings may differ in label language, box artwork, or included inserts, so the exact edition should be confirmed from the specific listing.

04

Playing it today

On a ColecoVision, the game uses the standard controller for rotation, thrust, and firing. It can also be played in emulators, and the native Roller Controller support is worth noting for owners of that peripheral.
