01

Overview

Players race Japanese and American tuner cars across purpose-built nighttime tracks in several modes, including circuit racing, drift attack, drag runs, and nitrous runs. A garage system lets you spend upgrade points earned from races on performance parts and visual customizations. Wi-Fi multiplayer supports head-to-head matches where you can challenge and be challenged by other players.

02

Why it matters

It brought the Underground tuner-racing formula to a handheld at a time when few street racers were designed for small screens. The game's emphasis on car ownership and visual tuning gave PSP players a focused, portable alternative to the larger console versions in the series.

03

The physical edition

A typical complete PSP UMD copy includes the UMD disc in its keep case along with a paper manual; exact contents vary by region and release window. Regional editions (Region 1, 2, 3, and 4) differ in packaging art, language, and disc product code, so verify the specific edition before purchase.

04

Playing it today

The game runs on original PSP hardware or PSP Go and does not require any online service to play single-player modes. Wi-Fi multiplayer requires a compatible PSP in the same local area and is no longer supported by any official backend.
