Overview
Players guide Mr. Nutz, an anthropomorphic red squirrel, through six themed levels to stop Mr. Blizzard, a yeti, from freezing the world. The squirrel can run, jump, swim in select stages, and collect nuts that serve as throwable ammunition. Combat relies on jumping on enemies, striking them with a tail flick, or throwing collected nuts at them.
02
Why it matters
Mr. Nutz originated from an independent project by character designer Philippe Dessoly and programmer Pierre Adane after the closure of Ocean France. Ocean Software picked it up and published it on the Super Nintendo, making it a notable example of a European-developed platform game on the console.
03
The physical edition
A typical complete copy includes the cartridge, an instruction manual, and a box with cover art. Some regional editions also include a consumer information booklet, a regulatory card, or promotional inserts, so exact contents vary by region and edition.
04
Playing it today
The game is single-player and runs on standard Super Nintendo hardware. It has no time limit, allowing players to take their time through each level.
