Overview

Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock is a 2007 rhythm game developed by Neversoft and published by Activision. The Wii edition was ported by Vicarious Visions and lets players use a guitar-shaped controller or a standard controller to play scrolling notes in a large rock catalog. Its career mode adds animated story scenes, boss battles, and a two-player co-op track, while multiplayer modes support local and online competition.

02

Why it matters

This entry marked the first Guitar Hero title led by Neversoft after Harmonix moved to a rival music series. It is often remembered for expanding the series' audience with wireless guitar hardware, co-op career mode, and online play on the Wii.

03

The physical edition

Complete copies of the Wii release generally include the game disc in a plastic case with its cover insert and printed manual. The same game also sold in larger bundles with a white wireless Les Paul guitar controller, so buyers should verify whether the item is a standard game-only package or a controller bundle before purchase.

04

Playing it today

The game runs on Nintendo Wii hardware, but online play depends on the console's network services and may be unavailable today. Local single-player and co-op play remain straightforward if you have a compatible guitar controller or use the standard Wii controls.
