01
Overview
The story takes place after Kratos has defeated Ares and ascended to Olympus, where nightmares continue to trouble him. One vision shows his mother Callisto held in Atlantis, prompting a journey that draws him back toward his own origins. The game expands the series' hack-and-slash formula with new weapons and magic while deepening Kratos' backstory.
02
Why it matters
Ghost of Sparta fills a narrative gap in the God of War saga and gives players a direct look at events that shaped Kratos before God of War II. It is also the second entry developed by Ready At Dawn for Sony's handheld-focused line.
03
The physical edition
A complete copy typically includes the game disc in a standard case with the original cover and any included manual or packaging specific to that regional edition. Regional versions can vary in artwork, language options, and included paperwork, so verify the edition before purchase.
04
Playing it today
The game plays straightforwardly on PS3 and remains a good way to experience the story between the first two mainline titles. Physical discs can still be used on a PS3, but verify the regional version matches your console.
