Overview

Set in a walled-off district of Gotham turned into a prison for the city's villains, the game gives players a sizable open area to move through on foot, on the rooftops, and via the grapple gun. Batman can fight through crowds of enemies or take a quieter route using stealth takedowns, gadgets, and Detective Vision to survey a scene. A parallel campaign follows Catwoman, and a large set of optional challenges and collectibles extends play well beyond the main story.

02

Why it matters

As the second Arkham entry, it established the open-world structure and expanded combat toolkit that the later games in the series carried forward. It remains one of the most cited examples of the action-stealth genre and a high point of the Batman: Arkham series.

03

The physical edition

A standard physical copy typically includes the original retail box, a jewel case holding the Blu-ray Disc, and the instruction manual, with contents varying by region and by edition. Collector's and Game of the Year variants added extras such as artbooks, DLC codes, and bonus discs, so a copy's contents depend on which specific edition it is.

04

Playing it today

The PS3 version still runs on original hardware and plays as it did in 2011, so a working console is the main requirement. The disc is a single-region Blu-ray that plays without additional setup, and all of its story and challenge content is available offline once installed.
