01
Overview
Developed by Ubisoft Sofia, the game tells the story of Aveline, the series' first female protagonist, set in French colonial Louisiana between 1765 and 1777. It centers on open-world exploration, combat, stealth, and a persona-switching mechanic that changes how Aveline moves through the city. The PS3 edition is an enhanced version of the original PlayStation Vita game, released under the title Liberation HD.
02
Why it matters
It expanded the Assassin's Creed series with a distinct setting in colonial New Orleans and a protagonist shaped by the era's social tensions. The PS3 release brought the story to a larger console audience and remains a notable entry for players interested in the series' earlier experimental spin-offs.
03
The physical edition
A typical complete PS3 copy includes the Blu-ray game disc and a case, with any included booklet or manual varying by region and release. Regional editions may also differ in cover art and included extras, so packaging variations are not part of the core game itself.
04
Playing it today
The game runs on a standard PlayStation 3 and supports single-player only. Players should expect a classic open-world experience focused on exploration, combat, and stealth rather than the multiplayer modes found in the original Vita version.
