Overview

AirCars puts you in a prototype aircar, dropped into enemy E.B.N.E.R.S. complexes to destroy key installations across a series of missions. The campaign supports cooperative play, and the game was the first Jaguar title to support LAN-style multiplayer through the CatBox peripheral. Developed by MidNite Entertainment Group, it shipped in 1997 after the title changed hands during development.

02

Why it matters

It stands out in Jaguar history as the first game built around the CatBox networking peripheral, bringing local area network play to the console. Its post-apocalyptic hovercraft shooter design also marks an ambitious late-console entry from the Jaguar's third-party scene.

03

The physical edition

A complete copy typically includes the Jaguar cartridge, a box with game artwork, and any included documentation such as a manual or insert. Regional editions and later re-issues can differ in packaging, so the physical contents should be checked before assuming what a given listing includes.

04

Playing it today

The original cartridge runs on any standard Atari Jaguar, while the network multiplayer modes require the CatBox peripheral and additional consoles to set up. The single-player campaign can be played alone and is the most accessible way to experience the game as released.
